Mafia: The Old Country Finished

Mafia: The Old Country development process is finished, just over a month before it’s launch.

Mafia: The Old Country Has Gone Gold

Set before the events of the original, Mafia: The Old Country puts the player into the shoes of Enzo Favara as he climbs up the ranks of a prominent crime family in 20th-century Sicily. The forthcoming title is developed by Hangar 13, which is the same studio that produced 2016’s Mafia 3 and 2020’s Mafia: Definitive Edition. After first being revealed at The Game Awards in December 2024, Mafia: The Old Country appears to be inching closer to launch without any issue, as confirmed by the developer’s latest announcement.

Mafia: The Old Country Finished

In a new social media post, the official Mafia series account revealed that Mafia: The Old Country has gone gold, which means that it is finally in a state where it can be played by the public. This also means that the 2K-published title is ready to be burnt onto discs for the physical editions. This encouraging news has arrived over a month ahead of the new Mafia game’s launch across PC and consoles on August 8, suggesting that the behind the scenes work has progressed according to plan. While such an announcement may have seemed inevitable, it is still reassuring for fans because it isn’t uncommon for AAA games to miss out on their original release window and face a delay.

While Mafia: The Old Country’s narrative-driven approach has been noticed positively by fans so far, another thing that has attracted their interest is its $50 price tag. In an industry where $70 AAA games have become the norm, with some developers even charging up to $80 for standard editions of their game, the Mafia prequel’s pricing surely comes as a relief. Besides the standard version, buyers can also grab the game’s Deluxe Edition, which bundles in-game items and digital goodies along with the base game.
