Marathon’s Marketing Plan Canceled
Marathon, which has been the focus of discussions in recent weeks, has now come to the fore with a serious marketing decision. Allegedly, all paid promotional activities planned for the game’s release have been canceled. This situation is considered a development that could jeopardize both the planned release date and the game’s fate.
Marathon Will Be Delayed
Speaking on the Sacred Symbols podcast, Colin Moriarty said that there are no paid marketing plans for Marathon, citing multiple sources. Moriarty emphasized that such a decision is quite unusual, especially for high-profile games, and stated that the cancellation may be related to the copyright and ethical discussions that have been going on recently.
In recent weeks, the claim that the game’s art team used stolen textures has caused a great deal of controversy. This controversy has caused Bungie to face a similar accusation for the fourth time in recent years. The general perception of the game has also rapidly taken a negative turn with this incident.
Marathon was previously announced to be released on September 23, 2025. However, recent developments indicate that it no longer seems possible to meet this date. While it is known that the game is already struggling in the “extraction shooter” genre, where competition is intense, the current crisis is expected to make the process even more difficult.
No official statement has yet been made by Bungie. However, the general opinion in the industry is that the studio is aware of the game’s current situation and has therefore stepped back from the promotion process. It may not be a surprise to hear a possible delay or format change announcement in the near future.
