MCU’s Sentry or DCU’s Superman?
The most beloved classic of comic book universes is back on the agenda: Superman or The Sentry? Marvel introduced its own “golden protector” with Thunderbolts and The New Avengers. On the other hand, DCU is preparing to set off with a brand new Superman movie directed by James Gunn. The fact that the two characters are on the big screen for the first time in the same year has made this comparison inevitable.
Power, Will and Irresistible Force: Sentry or Superman?
Marvel’s Sentry character is described as having “the power of a thousand exploding suns.” Bob Reynolds, who clearly proved himself in the Thunderbolts movie, draws attention with both his physical and psychic abilities. Sentry, who can manipulate matter around himself, can also create an almost impenetrable energy shield. However, behind these powers lie deep psychological fractures and his dark side, The Void.
On the other hand, there is Kal-El. DCU’s new Superman is known for his belief in goodness, his durability and universal powers. A more emotional, more human-focused Superman portrait is expected with James Gunn’s approach. Superman’s will against Sentry’s uncontrolled power may be an important element that will determine the outcome of the battle.
Lewis Pullman, who plays the role of Sentry, humorously stated in a recent statement that he needs therapy when compared to characters such as Superman, Homelander and Omni-Man. This reveals that the character is a figure who has not yet settled down and is facing his inner conflicts. Superman, on the other hand, has already been a legendary figure in comics and cinema for years.
This comparison is probably not possible on screen. However, such battles always continue in the imagination of comic book fans. Scenarios where Marvel and DC characters face off continue to find a place on both social media and in fan-made content. It is expected that this debate will flare up even more with the movies to be released in the summer. So, who do you think will win? Let’s meet in the comments.
