Over the past few years, Konami has been working on the revival of its Metal Gear franchise, which hasn’t received an original game since 2018’s poorly reviewed Metal Gear Survive. After remastering some of the classic entries in the series with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, the Japanese developer made its intentions of bolstering the highly popular IP clear by unveiling a remake project for 2004’s Snake Eater.
However, despite appearing in PlayStation’s trailer showcasing 2024 slated games, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater didn’t get an official release date announcement from devs at all last year. The lack of movement made certain portions of Metal Gear fans anxious, but the latest leak comes as a big relief.
According to the PlayStation Store information, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28, 2025. From allies such as Eva to antagonists such as The Boss, the leaked release date trailer revealed fresh glimpses of several key characters in the stealth-action game. Featuring a range of different action sequences, it shows Snake Eater’s CQC in action as well as a new look at the Shagohod. In addition to that, some of the game’s iconic bosses, including The End, The Fury, and The Pain, were also given the spotlight in the almost two minute long video. Additionally, the return of the Ape Escape-inspired minigame from the original was also teased.
It’s worth noting that the latest Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater leak has surfaced at a time when rumors about a forthcoming PlayStation State of Play stream are circulating. Based on that, it is very likely that the original plan for Konami was to announce the launch date during Sony’s event. Despite this leak, there are still some other highly awaited major releases, such as Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, rumored to be making an appearance during the next State of Play.
