In the South Korean Game Rating Board’s database update dated July 25th, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was rated as suitable for players aged 12 and over due to its “mild violence.” The application was submitted on July 10th, indicating that the game is at least sufficiently complete to qualify for the rating and release process.

According to the rating, the game begins with Samus Aran “transferred to the planet Buros after an unexpected encounter with Silux.” Details included that Samus fights against alien lifeforms with weapons integrated into her suit. However, no official gameplay or story information other than the rating has yet been released.

The game’s trailer, previously unveiled during a Nintendo Direct presentation, also showcased Samus’s psychic powers. Previews of how it works with the Switch 2’s new control features have piqued players’ interest. A Eurogamer review noted that the Joy-Con 2 controllers can be placed on the thighs and that movement sensitivity can be adjusted.

While a release date hasn’t been officially announced yet, the rating process is a promising development for Metroid fans. If all goes well, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could be released in the last quarter of this year.
