Metroid Prime 4 Could Be Switch 2’s Launch Game
Rumors about Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, are increasing. SamusHunter2, a reliable source, hinted on his social media account that Metroid Prime 4 could be the launch game for the Switch 2. The game, which was announced in 2017 and delayed many times during the development process, is set to be released in 2025. However, according to claims, the game will be playable on both the current Switch console and the Switch 2.
Metroid Prime 4 and the Challenging Development Process
Metroid Prime 4 was first announced at E3 2017. The initial development process was started by Bandai Namco Studios, but Retro Studios took over the project in 2019. The game’s producer Kensuke Tanabe was re-involved in the project and the game’s development started from scratch. This long and complicated process increased fans’ expectations even more.
The official trailer released in 2024 revealed the game’s title as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The trailer showed Samus exploring a new forest, scanning Space Pirates, and encountering beloved characters like Sylux. The game’s visuals and exploration-focused gameplay could provide a perfect opportunity to showcase the Switch 2’s technical features.
Nintendo is a company that loves to introduce its new consoles with big games. Previously, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a huge success as the Switch’s launch title. Now, Metroid Prime 4 could take on a similar role to showcase the new console’s technical prowess. In particular, rumors that the Switch 2 will get a performance boost with the Nvidia T239 chipset could create a huge advantage in terms of visual quality and fluidity.
