According to a new rumor that has Nintendo fans excited, Metroid Prime 5 development may have already begun. While Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has not yet been released, leaked information about the fifth game in the series reveals Nintendo’s plans to expand this iconic science fiction series. Allegedly, Metroid Prime 5 could be released exclusively for Switch 2 by 2027.

The source of the rumor is leaker Nash Weedle, who has previously made accurate predictions. Weedle claims that Metroid Prime 5 is in development and is planned to be exclusive to Nintendo’s next-generation console, Switch 2. Weedle had correctly predicted Metroid Dread, which was surprisingly announced in 2021 and achieved great success. Therefore, it is thought that this new claim should be taken seriously.
However, this leak has not yet been confirmed by Nintendo or Retro Studios. Also, considering that Nintendo plans to release Metroid Prime 4 in 2025, it is considered unusual for there to be only a two-year gap between the two games.
