MindsEye’s Bad Debut Costs It

MindsEye has been on the agenda with negative reviews since its first day. The game’s release full of bugs led to PlayStation initiating a refund process. Although CEO Mark Gerhard claims that all the negative reviews were written for money to denigrate the game, the events show that things are not going well for the studio. Now, Build a Rocket Boy is facing an even bigger crisis.

Major Layoffs Alleged at MindsEye Studio

A source who did not want to be named said that Build a Rocket Boy is planning to lay off more than 100 employees. In the UK, a 45-day legal consultation process is required for layoffs of more than 100 employees, and this process has started as of today. It is stated that the studio has approximately 300 employees in the UK and 200 employees abroad. Therefore, it is said that the size of the layoffs could be quite extensive.

MindsEye's Bad Debut Costs It

MindsEye holds the title of the lowest-rated game of 2025 with a score of 43 on Metacritic. The game’s active player count was recorded as only 260 last week. The situation on the sales side is not encouraging either; the game’s $59.99 price has dropped to $20 on Walmart shelves. Moreover, according to the allegations, the studio was accused of adding fake positive reviews to the game. The use of the same text in many reviews increased this suspicion, but the studio has categorically denied these allegations.

All these developments prove that things are not going well for MindsEye. Now, all eyes are on how the studio will change its roadmap. Employees are waiting for the official decision on their future in the coming weeks.
