Over the last year, players have seen Mortal Kombat 1 grow and evolve, with the game introducing tweaks and balancing updates as well as new purchasable items. Of course, a Mortal Kombat game is nothing without a great roster, with Mortal Kombat 1 featuring classics like Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Raiden, just to name a few. Mortal Kombat 1’s cast of fighters has continued to grow as more DLC characters have been revealed and released, with fans now on the cusp of getting to play as Conan the Barbarian.
Conan the Barbarian will make his Mortal Kombat 1 debut on January 21, 2025, according to NetherRealm boss Ed Boon, who shared a first look at the upcoming character on Twitter. A new gameplay trailer shows Conan the Barbarian facing off against legendary Mortal Kombat character Shao Kahn. Conan will be playable in an early access window beginning January 21, with the character being made available for purchase to all players following this period.
Mortal Kombat 1’s roster has grown since its release, with several famous faces appearing as part of the game’s various DLC packs. Scream’s Ghostface is now playable, as is Omni-Man from Invincible. Perhaps one of the game’s most high-profile new fighters was Homelander, who made his Mortal Kombat debut earlier in 2024.
Mortal Kombat 1 will continue to get interesting for fans after Conan the Barbarian makes his debut, with the T-1000 arriving next year as well. This marks yet another instance in which Mortal Kombat has partnered with the Terminator franchise, this time allowing fans to play as the iconic T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, played by Robert Patrick. Rumors suggest this character may mark the end of the road for Mortal Kombat 1, but only time will tell what the game will look like as fans move into 2025.
