NACON Begins New Series for WRC

Following EA’s announcement that it was halting its WRC projects, NACON has gained the right to develop official WRC games and run esports organizations starting in 2027. This new agreement could mark the beginning of a brand new era for rally games.

NACON Starts Preparations for a New WRC Series

The announcement emphasized that NACON will develop a completely new WRC game series, which will both reflect the real championship structure and appeal to new players. All content, such as official rally routes, vehicles, teams, drivers and sponsors, will be included in the games. The project shows that the brand is entering a radical restart process and a new page is being opened in the development of WRC.

FIA WRC Marketing Manager Arne Dirks stated in his statement that NACON’s vision is impressive and its experience in rally games is indisputable. With this partnership, the aim is for WRC to have a structure that offers not only racing but also broader gaming experiences.

NACON had previously gained significant experience in this field with games such as WRC 10 and WRC Generations. The WRC license that EA Sports took over in 2023 ended shortly after, and the company announced that it was withdrawing from rally games. This new period that NACON has taken over is seen as a critical step for the future of the brand.
