New Fortnite Mode Is Not Wanted by Players

Rumors that a six-player squad mode would be added to Fortnite weren’t met with positive reception, as expected. Players expressed their disapproval on social media, arguing that the change would negatively impact the gameplay experience.

Six-Player Squad Mode Sparks Controversy in Fortnite

According to information shared by Shiina, a reliable Fortnite leaker, Epic Games is working on a six-player squad mode. While this innovation theoretically allows for more friend-to-friend play, it has already caused considerable concern among players. There are fears that the new mode will further divide the community, especially since the player base is already spread across different modes.

Players believe the biggest problem with the six-player mode will be encountering more bots. In an environment with a variety of content like Fortnite Festival, Lego Fortnite, and user-made modes, adding a new mode could reduce the current player density. This, in turn, could increase the likelihood of encountering AI-controlled opponents instead of real players in matches.

Another concern concerns the lack of communication within teams. Especially in random matches, teammates scattering in different directions is a common problem. This problem can be exacerbated in six-player mode. If half of your team is acting inconsistently, it can significantly hinder your chances against an organized opponent. This can be especially frustrating for players playing alone or with limited friends.

While Epic Games sometimes listens to player feedback, decisions can be irreversible. The abrupt removal of Team Rumble last month is a clear example of this. While the six-player mode hasn’t yet been officially announced, it’s believed that if it were implemented despite the current backlash, it could create a new divide within the Fortnite community.
