New Nier Signal From Original Team
The creative trio behind the action RPG NieR: Automata—producer Yosuke Saito, director Yoko Taro, and composer Keiichi Okabe—are reuniting. The core team behind the legendary game is working on a new, unnamed project with Takahisa Taura. In a new interview with Famitsu, Saito confirmed that the project is still ongoing and that there have been no changes.
New Project Could Be Nier, But It’s Not Certain
When asked by Famitsu, Saito said that the name of the project has not yet been announced and that it is unclear whether it will be NieR. However, the team structure has created strong anticipation among fans that a new NieR game is in development. “Yoko-san, Okabe-san, and Taura-san are still working together. Nothing has changed in that regard,” Saito said, keeping the excitement about the project alive.
These statements support previous speculations that the NieR series will continue. Especially considering the worldwide success and cult status of NieR: Automata, it seems unlikely that Square Enix will abandon the series completely. On the other hand, it is also possible that the same team is preparing a brand new game set in a different universe.
There have been no new clues or official announcements about the NieR universe yet. However, when Yoko Taro’s unique narrative style, Okabe’s atmospheric music and Taura’s gameplay experience from PlatinumGames come together, a strong project that will attract fans’ attention could be on the way.
It remains a matter of curiosity whether the new game will be based on the NieR universe or a completely new IP. Expectations are high, and the silence is striking. However, it is now certain that the core team is still working together.
