New Update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which managed to become one of the highest-rated games of the year, has come out with a new update to make its successful launch sustainable. Sandfall Interactive intervened in both technical issues and made important balance changes by listening to player feedback. In particular, one character’s excessive power was limited with this update.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 May 9 Update

The most striking title of the patch dated May 9 was the 40% weakening of the character named Stendhal. Players had noticed that this character could defeat almost all enemies in one move with void-based damage. Stendhal, who defeated all enemies, including the final boss, in seconds, will now have a more balanced performance. This change is considered important in order to maintain the competitive nature of the game.

The update isn’t just about balance changes. Steam Deck compatibility has been increased, and many visual glitches have been fixed at ultrawide resolutions. Xbox Game Pass and PS5 controller support has been made more stable. Some issues with menu interactions for mouse and keyboard users have been fixed, such as certain key combinations not responding.

The map has also been fixed. Many points where players could not move between rocks, lanterns, and some environmental objects have been reworked. In particular, we focused on bugs such as Esquie not being able to cross bridges or getting stuck in the air. These steps were welcomed as these issues directly affect both exploration and gameplay.

Weapons and abilities have also been tweaked. Some weapons, such as Lithelim and Blizzon, have had their stat scaling not working at high levels. We’ve also fixed bugs such as the Journal window getting stuck, boss fights not being completed during NG+, and various camp interactions. All of these changes aim to make Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 a smoother and more accurate experience.
