New Visual Released from The Odyssey Movie
As filming continues in Scotland for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the film features Matt Damon in full armor. The appearance of Damon’s character, the Greek hero Odysseus, during filming on the shores of the Moray Firth has further fueled curiosity about the project. However, it remains unclear whether the trailer will be released before Jurassic World Rebirth.
The Countdown Begins for The Odyssey
According to a statement from Universal Pictures, The Odyssey will be released on July 17, 2026, marking its place in cinematic history as the first mythological film shot with IMAX film technology. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, alongside stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, and Jon Bernthal. The film will bring Homer’s classic Odyssey to the big screen with a modern twist.
Leaked trailer details hint at a dark atmosphere, accented by images of the sea. As audio in the trailer speaks of the collapse of Zeus’s laws and the death of the king, Tom Holland’s Telemachus sets off to track down his father, Odysseus. Bernthal’s character greets him with a questioning tone: “Who has the story of Odysseus? Who says what? Is he rich, is he poor, is he dead, is he in prison?”
At the end of the trailer, Matt Damon’s Odysseus is shown lying on a piece of wreckage at sea, either unconscious or dead. This image symbolizes the character’s long journey and mythological adventure. The teaser only hints at the film’s scope.
According to Variety, tickets for the IMAX 70mm screenings will go on sale on Thursday, July 17. This date is expected to coincide with the online release of the teaser trailer. As with Nolan’s previous films, early publicity is crucial for this production. It has also been reported that the film is being shot globally on multiple continents, with every scene planned for high-definition IMAX.
