New Watch Dogs Game Coming to Headsets, Not Consoles
Ubisoft’s beloved game series Watch Dogs invites players to a completely different experience this time. The new Watch Dogs game is called Truth and this new adventure is an interactive audiobook published on Audible instead of a video game.
New Watch Dogs Game Continues the Story
The story is a sequel to Watch Dogs: Legion and takes place in post-Brexit London. Players fight against the government’s cyber intelligence unit SIRS with the help of hacktivist group DedSec and artificial intelligence Bagley. The course of the story is shaped by the decisions made at the end of each episode.
This approximately 6-hour audio adventure features a very strong cast. T’Nia Miller, whom we know from The Haunting Of Bly Manor, voices the character Connie; David Morrissey from The Walking Dead, Freema Agyeman from Doctor Who, Russell Tovey from Looking and Gary Beadle from EastEnders are also in the cast.
The Watch Dogs series was once considered one of Ubisoft’s most important brands, like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. However, the failure of Watch Dogs: Legion to meet commercial expectations made the future of the series uncertain. Nevertheless, Ubisoft seems determined to keep this franchise alive in different media.
The Watch Dogs movie, which began shooting last summer, is the most concrete example of this. Directed by Mathieu Turi and starring Tom Blyth and Sophia Wilde, the release date of this movie has not yet been announced, but it is certain that it has created great curiosity in the gaming world.
On the other hand, Ubisoft has previously brought its games to different platforms with audiobooks such as Assassin’s Creed: Gold. It seems that the company will continue to evaluate its popular series in non-gaming media and offer new experiences to its fans.
Watch Dogs: Truth can currently be purchased from Audible for £19.99. Those who subscribe to Audible with a 30-day free trial can access this adventure for free. Although Watch Dogs fans are waiting for a new console game, this interactive audiobook looks quite interesting in terms of expanding the series’ universe and providing clues about its future. Let’s see what surprises Ubisoft will bring to this series in the coming period.
