New World of Warcraft: The War Within Trailer Released
At the end of this month, World of Warcraft will bring players “The War Within”, a new expansion pack that will offer an epic journey to save Azeroth. Players will face the evil Xal’atath the Harbinger and his army of spider-like Nerubians. To introduce these new enemies and provide insight into current events in the game world, Blizzard has released an animated comic book cinematic trailer.
The trailer tells the story “Threads of Destiny”, set in the Nerubian city of Azj-Kahet. This story lays the foundation for the events of the expansion and details the new threats facing Azeroth. The return of Xal’atath and his army of Nerubian spiderlings poses a grave threat to Azeroth and presents players with a formidable challenge.
The War Within represents the penultimate update in the 2024 World of Warcraft roadmap announced in December 2023. The update will include a new campaign storyline, delves, hero abilities, four new zones, eight new dungeons, a new raid and a new season for PVP. Additional story and quests, along with new content and system updates, will be included in update 11.0.5, which will be released in the fall of this year in time for the 20th anniversary event.
World of Warcraft: The War Within launches for PC on August 26th. Although Blizzard Entertainment was acquired by Xbox at the end of 2023, World of Warcraft is not yet available to Game Pass subscribers. The injunction granted to the FTC by US courts prevented Activision Blizzard King and Xbox from including ABK properties in the subscription service before the deal officially closed. No word yet on when PC Game Pass subscribers will be able to play World of Warcraft.
