New Xbox Could Cost Over $1,000

Xbox President Sarah Bond’s vision for the next-generation Xbox, which she expressed in the multi-year partnership announcement with AMD, has made waves in the gaming world. Bond’s statement that “the Xbox experience will not be tied to a single store or device” indicates that the new console may be closer to a PC than a classic console. The reflection of this new approach on the price tag has already become a matter of curiosity.

The New Xbox Could Break a Record with Its Price

Kepler, a source close to Xbox, stated on social media that the next-generation Xbox will need to be sold with a profit margin if it is to offer support for multiple stores. This points to a console price above $1,000, which is unprecedented in the gaming world.

New Xbox Could Cost Over $1,000

Currently, the most expensive Xbox model is the 2TB Galaxy Black Series X version with a disk drive, which sells for $729.99. Similarly, the PS5 Pro’s price remains at $699.99. However, the new Xbox could easily exceed this limit due to its technical features and PC-like infrastructure.

On the other hand, Xbox’s planned new handheld console has also sparked price discussions. According to rumors, the European price of the high-spec version will be around 899 Euros. This means a record level for portable gaming devices.

It is a matter of curiosity how Microsoft’s strategy will be received by gamers and how it will affect the price/performance balance. It seems that Xbox is preparing to start a new era by raising the price bar higher than ever in the console market.
