New Yakuza Remake Leaked

Yakuza, or Like a Dragon as it’s now known, has gained immense popularity in recent years, gaining a large fan base worldwide. The addition of Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 to Xbox Game Pass have brought new players to the series. Now, a bug that occurred before Tokyo Game Show 2025 has unearthed a remake of one of the series’ most beloved games.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 Accidentally Revealed

Series fans noticed a striking detail on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios’ official website. The title Yakuza Kiwami 3 appeared in the same episode that featured the previous installments, Kiwami and Kiwami 2. This phrase, which was quickly removed from the site, is still visible in Google search results. This has fueled expectations that the new remake will be announced at Tokyo Game Show.

Originally released in 2009, Yakuza 3 is remembered as a somewhat duller game compared to the other games in the series. The game follows Kazuma Kiryu as he runs an orphanage and is drawn back into a life of crime. While its story and characters were well-received, the slow-paced introductory sections and tedious combat system were criticized. The remake is expected to address these shortcomings and offer a smoother experience with modern systems.

The Kiwami series successfully delivered both nostalgia and quality with the first two games. Therefore, a meticulous remake of Yakuza 3 is crucial for fans. Revisiting the detailed streets of Japan, especially with modern graphics engines, and playing with modernized combat mechanics could breathe new life into the series.

While no official announcement has been made, this leak indicates that the new remake is almost certain. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is expected to be officially unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation. This seems like it will excite both old fans of the series and new generation players.
