Nintendo Switch 2 Explains VRR Error
Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, was previously reported to offer VRR support in both handheld and docked mode. However, it turned out that this information was published by mistake. Nintendo acknowledged this mistake in an official statement and stated that the VRR feature is only active in handheld use.
Nintendo Switch 2 VRR Only Available in Handheld Use
VRR, or Variable Refresh Rate, is an important graphics technology that minimizes image tearing and frame drops in games, providing smoother gameplay. The fact that the Switch 2 supports this feature was seen as a big plus. However, the information that VRR only works in handheld mode surprised many users.
Nintendo has issued an apology for this misinformation via Nintendo Life. The statement reads, “Nintendo Switch 2 only supports VRR in handheld mode. The previous information on the Nintendo Switch 2 website was incorrect, and we apologize for this error.”
What is interesting is that this kind of advanced graphics support is only active in handheld mode, not in docked mode. It would generally be expected that such a feature would be supported in TV-connected mode. This may cause users to reconsider their expectations.
Switch 2 is still introduced with ambitious features such as high frame rate and 4K HDR. However, limited VRR support may disappoint gamers who care about technical features. Lack of communication has been a subject of criticism since the console’s first introduction. Nintendo is expected to present such technical details more clearly and accurately.
