Nintendo Takes Action Against Switch 2 Leaks
During CES 2025, major leaks emerged about Nintendo’s next console, the Switch 2. It is claimed that accessory manufacturer Genki is at the center of these leaks. Genki showcased a model that it claims is an exact replica of the Switch 2 and shared some information about the device’s release date. However, it was reported that Nintendo’s lawyers reached out to Genki during CES and a legal process was initiated.
Tensions Between Nintendo and Genki
Nintendo is known to take a tough stance against leaks about the Switch 2. It is stated that Nintendo lawyers warned the company after Genki claimed to have seen the final version of the Switch 2 at CES 2025 and even showed an exact prototype of the device. However, Genki claims that it has not signed any non-disclosure agreements (NDA) with Nintendo and therefore will not have any legal problems.
Nintendo has not made an official statement regarding these leaks, but in a statement to a Japanese newspaper, it said that the model on display was “unofficial”. Genki has not yet made a statement on the subject. A lot of information has been leaked about the Switch 2 recently. A reliable tech leaker shared 360-degree renders of the device, claiming that this is the most accurate visual representation of the Switch 2. These leaks have created great curiosity about the design and technical features of the console.
Nintendo is expected to take more precautions to keep information about its new console secret. The company wants to take control before a big launch and allow users to meet the new device in a surprising way.
