Nintendo Will Not Leave Switch Users Alone
It has long been wondered whether Nintendo would ignore existing users as it moves into the new console era. Especially with the Switch 2 coming out on June 5, old model owners were worried that support would be cut off. However, Nintendo made a commitment in its new financial report that pleased these users.
New Games Will Continue to Come to Switch Users
Nintendo stated in its latest financial report that there are more than 100 million active Switch players worldwide and officially announced that they will continue to offer new games for this audience. The report states that games planned for 2025 and 2026 include productions such as Pokémon Z-A Legends, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Rhythm Heaven: Groove, Tomodachi Life and Pokémon Champions.
This statement is of great importance to users who have not been able to switch to the new model due to the high number of pre-orders and stock shortages for the Switch 2. Although Nintendo says it plans to increase its production capacity, current demand has exceeded expectations. This shows that the Switch still has a significant player base and needs to be supported.
When we look at Nintendo’s previous consoles, we see that it has taken a similar approach. For example, although the Wii U ended production in 2017, new games continued to come to this platform until 2023. This past practice shows that the company is inclined to support older-generation consoles for a long time.
All these developments show that Switch users will be able to meet new content for a few more years and that their systems will not be shelved in the short term. This decision by Nintendo makes the console transition process smoother and more user-friendly.
