No More PSN Login Requirements for PC Gamers

Sony has finally removed the PSN login requirement, which has long been criticized by PC gamers. The company announced in a statement that it will no longer be necessary to connect to a PlayStation Network account to play certain PlayStation games on PC. This decision was announced a day before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s release on PC and has caused great relief among gamers. This regulation removes a significant obstacle, especially for players in regions where PSN is not available.

Why Was the PSN Login Requirement Removed?

Sony’s decision is a response to complaints that gamers have long voiced. Previously, it was necessary to log in to a PSN account to play even single-player games such as God of War Ragnarok or Horizon Zero Dawn on PC. However, the fact that PSN is not available in some countries has made this account requirement a big problem for many gamers. In fact, gamers were forced to use various mods to bypass the PSN login. This method caused concern among users because it carried the risk of modifying game files.

Sony had reviewed this login requirement, especially after the increasing backlash and the bombardment of negative reviews on Steam during the launch of the PC version of Helldivers 2. Finally, Sony responded to these complaints by removing the PSN login requirement and responding to players’ demands.

With this change, popular PlayStation games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and The Last of Us Part II Remastered can now be played without requiring a PSN login. On the other hand, games with online multiplayer components such as Ghost of Tsushima will continue to require a PSN account connection.

Sony will continue to offer some special rewards to players who log in to their PSN account. These rewards include cosmetics and in-game currency. However, removing the login requirement will allow a much wider range of players to experience these games comfortably.
