NVIDIA RTX 5080 and 5090 Available as Portable
NVIDIA made headlines in the technology world with an interesting sales method at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2025 event. The company offered its new-generation RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 graphics cards for sale from a mobile food truck at suggested retail prices (MSRP). The $999 RTX 5080 and $1,999 RTX 5090 are being delivered to a limited number of buyers via the NVIDIA Gear Van in the GTC parking lot. However, this unusual sales method is offered exclusively to event attendees.
NVIDIA’s Graphics Card Sales at GTC 2025
NVIDIA’s sales method is carried out at certain hours throughout the event. The sales, which started on Wednesday, take place between 07:00 and 12:00 in the morning. However, purchased graphics cards are not delivered from the vehicle. For security reasons, buyers can pick up their cards from the main entrance of the South Hall of GTC on the same day.
A total of 2,000 graphics cards were offered for sale at the event. 1,000 of this number are RTX 5080, while the rest are RTX 5090 models. In addition, each participant is allowed to purchase only one card. However, in order to benefit from this opportunity, it is necessary to have a GTC event ticket. A single-day ticket is sold for $1,145, while a full five-day ticket is sold for $2,295.
Due to the high demand for RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 graphics cards, NVIDIA is dividing the sales into lots. For example, according to an announcement made by NVIDIA on its social media platform X, only 90 cards are available for sale at a certain time. This leads to intense competition among participants.
For those who cannot attend the event, it is quite difficult to get these graphics cards. While it’s currently nearly impossible to find the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 at retail, pre-built systems with these cards are selling for as much as $6,000. While NVIDIA’s unusual sales method has garnered a lot of attention from event attendees, it still seems like these graphics cards are hard to come by for most consumers.
