Oblivion Remastered Surpassed Nine Million Player
Recently Bethesda announced that Oblivion Remastered has surpassed nine million player milestone after three months of it’s release.
Nine Million Players in Oblivion Remastered
In a post, Bethesda has thanked players after Oblivion Remastered passed the nine-million player milestone. The thanks went out to “everyone who emerged as a hero of Kvatch, mastered Arch-Mage, rose to Grand Champion, banished the Blackwood Company, gallivanted as the Gray Fox, and listened to the Night.” It’s a huge number of players, one that has only taken three months to amass. While Oblivion Remastered is already being outdone in concurrent players by Skyrim, it’s still a very impressive achievement for the game.
However, it’s worth remembering that this doesn’t necessarily represent the number of sales for Oblivion Remastered. The game was released day one on Xbox Game Pass, which undoubtedly would have had a massive impact on the number of players paying to play. Unfortunately, nine million players were also not enough to stop recent layoffs at Oblivion Remastered studio Virtuos, either.
Following Oblivion Remastered, it remains to be seen whether any other of Bethesda’s older titles will receive the same treatment. There are continued rumors about the possibility of a Fallout 3 remaster, which, given its close proximity to the original Oblivion, would make a lot of sense. It’s not clear whether Virtuos would again be involved in any potential Fallout 3 remaster.
