New Game Announcement from Outer Wilds Developers

Mobius Digital announced the existence of their new game not with a press release or social media post, but simply with a comment added to the end of the update notes. They confirmed their transition to the project with the statement, “We no longer have major update plans for Outer Wilds or Echoes of the Eye because we are currently working hard on our new game.” This information created a surprise effect within the community and spread quickly on social media.

The development team emphasized that despite the announcement of the new game, it will be a long wait for details. In their message via X, they emphasized that patience should be exercised by saying, “It may take years for something concrete to be shared about this new project.”

The update that led to the announcement of the new game mainly includes technical fixes. On the PC side, a bug that caused some keys to be disabled during window focus changes has been fixed. In addition, the speed increase problem in diagonal movements has been resolved. Some animation, lighting and interaction bugs specific to the Echoes of the Eye expansion have also been fixed with the update. In addition, improvements have been made to the user interface and tools such as the signal scope.

Although the studio stated that minor updates may be possible in the future, it emphasized that this is not a guarantee. With the transition to the new project, it can be said that Outer Wilds has now entered its maturity period and has largely completed its journey.
