Outriders 2 Will Never Come

The information that emerged regarding the cancellation of Outriders 2 has once again drawn attention to People Can Fly in the gaming world. The silent shelving of the sequel, developed under the name “Project Gemini”, was interpreted as a surprising development for both gamers and professionals in the industry. It has not been officially announced why this project, which is still in the early stages of development, was canceled, but it is said that there were serious problems behind the scenes.

How Did the Cancellation of Outriders 2 Affect People Can Fly?

The canceled Outriders 2 was completely removed from the development process while it was still in the motion capture process. At this stage, there was not even a playable version of the game. However, even the current state of the project was shown to some content creators as closed. Despite this, no public statement was made about how far the game was progressing or what features it would include. This suggests that the cancellation was a decision taken hastily or shaped by external influences.

Outriders 2 Will Never Come

According to allegations, one of the biggest reasons for the cancellation was the lack of communication with the publisher and funding issues. The disagreements between People Can Fly and the publisher made it impossible for the development process to continue. These developments not only brought about the end of a project; they also led to the layoff of 50 employees of the studio. This situation created serious pressure on the general structure of the company.

In fact, this is not the first major crisis for People Can Fly. Approximately 120 people were laid off in a similar way last year. The studio’s frequent cancellation of projects and layoffs can lead to trust issues with investors and business partners. Moreover, such fluctuations have a negative effect on employee motivation and make it difficult for new talent to join the company.

Despite all these negativities, People Can Fly is still active in the sector and working on important projects. The studio is currently focused on five major productions, including Gears of War: E-Day, Project Echo, Project Delta, Lost Rift (VR) and Project Bison. However, the shelving of Outriders 2 suggests that these projects could face a similar risk, and the eyes of gamers and industry professionals are now on how the studio can maintain stability in these projects.
