Peacemaker 2’s Multiverse Story Confirmed
A short trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, shown in theaters, leaked online and revealed a key detail. John Cena’s Peacemaker character confronts his doppelganger in this footage, revealing that this encounter takes place in an alternate reality.
Peacemaker 2 Officially Embraces the Multiverse Theme
While it’s clear that the new season will follow a multiverse narrative, this raises questions about how Peacemaker’s DCEU past will connect with his DCU future. James Gunn has previously stated that the Peacemaker series is largely canonical, only some details about the Justice League will be explored in the new season.
According to Gunn’s statements, the references to the events of Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad in Creature Commandos indicate that these events are also relevant within the DCU. This means the character’s history in the DCEU will not be completely erased. Peacemaker’s own development through the multiverse and his journey through different realities will be a focal point of the new season.
Nevertheless, completely ignoring the character’s history in the DCEU could raise questions about the series’ continuity. However, it has been confirmed that the second season will feature a narrative in which Peacemaker confronts his past and enters a new phase in his journey to becoming a hero. Scenes in the trailer also underscore this theme.
Peacemaker season 2 premieres on HBO on August 21st. The cast includes John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, and Tim Meadows. Whether Rick Flag Jr. will return remains a mystery.
