Pirated Nintendo Games Site Caught by FBI

The long-standing controversy surrounding pirated content in the gaming world has now resurfaced with a major operation. A popular site offering illegal Nintendo Switch games has been shut down through international cooperation with the FBI. The details of this incident, which has sparked controversy among gamers and developers, are being closely investigated.

FBI Intervention in Pirated Nintendo Games Site

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has shut down the pirated game site Nsw2u following a joint operation with the Dutch Financial Information and Investigation Service (FIOD). Visitors to the site now receive an official notification stating, “This site has been seized.” The operation was carried out pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by the Northern District Court of Georgia.

Nintendo has long been combating pirated content. Last year, a lawsuit filed against Tropic Haze, the developer of the Switch emulator Yuzu, alleged that Tears of the Kingdom had been downloaded one million times through pirated means, and the parties reached a $2.4 million settlement. The company also filed a substantial lawsuit against streamer Jesse ‘EveryGameGuru’ Keighin, who played and shared unreleased games without permission.

This resolute stance against pirated content has been particularly tightened ahead of new game releases. The company is developing not only legal but also technical measures to prevent such leaks. New projects like Donkey Kong Bananza are planned for the Switch 1, and it was also announced that the game coupon system would end in 2026.

The FBI’s intervention is not limited to a single site; it also serves as a warning to platforms offering similar content. Nintendo’s fight against piracy appears to be a long-term and comprehensive effort.
