Playstation Has Confirmed State of Play Date

State of Play with Potential of Bringing a lot of Games

Sony usually holds three to four State of Play livestreams a year to announce and showcase games from third-party partners, indie developers, and occasionally PlayStation’s first-party studios. The last State of Play presentation was held in September 2024, which notably announced Ghost of Yotei, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered, as well as DLCs for Stellar Blade and Astro Bot.

Following a bout of rumors since mid-January, PlayStation has now confirmed that it’ll host the first State of Play of 2025 on Wednesday, February 12. The livestream will weigh in at over 40 minutes, which is considerably longer than usual State of Play presentations, and seems to be focussed exclusively on PS5 games. An exact list or number of games hasn’t been provided, so it should be interesting to find out what PlayStation has in store for its fans. Those who find themselves intrigued can tune into the State of Play at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CET / 7am JST (February 13).

As for which big games can possibly show up at the February 2025 State of Play, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei appear to be safe guesses. Both of them are slated for release this year, and Hideo Kojima was seemingly editing a new Death Stranding 2: On the Beach trailer recently, probably for the upcoming State of Play. Bungie’s Marathon revival could also be shown off at the State of Play, since the studio promised more information about the extraction shooter in 2025. Games like Hell is Us, Lost Soul Aside, Judas, Monster Hunter Wilds, and more may be included in the presentation too.

Aside from what’s already revealed, there’s also the possibility that the February 2025 State of Play will feature some brand-new announcements. Insomniac Games has long been rumored to be developing a Venom spin-off dubbed Venom: Lethal Protector, which is supposedly planned for release in 2025. Should this game still be on track, it could finally break cover at the February 2025 State of Play.
