Innovations Coming with the PlayStation Portal Update

The biggest change with the update was made to the user interface. It is now much easier to sort the game catalog. Thanks to the “Sort” menu, games can be arranged according to play time or alphabetically. In addition, notifications showing the connection status are now presented in a clearer and more understandable way. In this way, players can more easily understand the reason for connection errors.

However, another important innovation has come for users who play games via the cloud streaming feature: the recording feature. Now, videos can be recorded from games played over the cloud via the Portal device. This stands out as a very functional innovation, especially for content creators and users who want to record their gaming memories.

A new waiting screen that informs users when the servers are busy has also been added to the system. In case of congestion, this screen provides information such as estimated waiting time and connection status to players in line. Thus, users can more clearly understand whether the device is stuck in waiting. In addition, the system, which was tested with gameplay videos of games such as “Ghost of Tsushima” and “Spider-Man 2”, seems to be working smoothly.

With this update, PlayStation Portal goes one step further and makes the PS5 experience more accessible and enjoyable on a portable screen. While it is eagerly awaited how Sony will further develop this device, users seem quite pleased with these innovations for now.
