PlayStation Showcase Returning In 2025?
Sony may be considering a PlayStation Showcase in the summer of 2025. According to information shared by Jeff Grubb on the Game Mess Decides podcast, Sony is planning to hold an event in the summer, but no clear decision has yet been made on whether it will be a State of Play or a full-scale PlayStation Showcase. If the Showcase takes place, new information could be shared about long-awaited games like Marvel’s Wolverine.
Marvel’s Wolverine and Other Games Could Come with PlayStation Showcase
Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced in 2021, and very little information has been shared about the project since then. A ransomware attack in 2023 leaked early gameplay footage and story details about the game to the internet. However, no official statement has been made. According to Jeff Grubb, if a PlayStation Showcase is held this summer, new information could be shared about big projects like Wolverine.
In addition, there are rumors among fans about a Venom spin-off game. The game in question could be a smaller-scale production like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. However, Sony has not yet confirmed the existence of this game, and it remains unclear whether the project has been canceled.
Grubb states that fans have been disappointed by PlayStation’s recent lack of first-party games. However, a PlayStation Showcase planned for the summer could be an opportunity for Sony to shed light on its expectations for 2026. If the showcase takes place, it could provide a chance to learn more about Sony’s future projects and new games for the PlayStation 5. Although Sony has not yet made an official statement, the return of the PlayStation Showcase could create great excitement in the gaming world this summer.
