PlayStation’s Fairgame$ Game Delayed

Things don’t seem to be going well for PlayStation’s live service games. The release date for Fairgame$ has been postponed due to issues that arose after external testing. Jade Raymond, the experienced name leading the project, has also left the studio.

Fairgame$ is experiencing a shakeup in development

According to Bloomberg, Fairgame$, one of Sony’s live service games, will not be able to make its previously planned fall 2025 release. Following external testing, performance and quality concerns arose about the game, which led to a comprehensive evaluation of the project. As a result, the game’s release has been postponed to 2026. The game’s developer, Haven Studios, was acquired by Sony in 2022 and its staff included former Google Stadia developers.

Following this delay, it was announced that the studio’s founder and leader Jade Raymond had left Sony. Raymond was previously one of the well-known names in the industry, having worked on major projects such as Assassin’s Creed and EA Motive. Sony said in a statement, “Jade Raymond was a visionary force in the establishment of Haven Studios. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her success in her future journey.”

Fairgame$ was introduced at a PlayStation event in 2023, but details about the game were limited. It was stated that the game would have open-ended gameplay based on class conflict. In terms of its production style, it was compared to a Robin Hood-themed Payday 2. The game, which took an Ubisoft-style approach, would be the first major project of Haven Studios, which was established after the failure of Stadia.

Sony has not completely canceled the Fairgame$ project. It was announced that Marie-Eve Danis and Pierre-François Sapinski took over the studio as the new management. However, when you look at the overall picture, it seems that Sony’s strategy for live service games has seriously shaken. Recent decisions such as the cancellation of The Last of Us Online, the withdrawal of Concord, the shelving of the online God of War game, and the cancellation of Bend Studio’s co-op shooter project question the company’s stability in this area.
