Pokemon Fans Break Guinness World Record
Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) fans broke an incredible record during a special event held to celebrate the release of the Scarlet and Violet: Surging Sparks expansion sets. Leading Pokemon creators including Joe Merrick of Serebii, Mayplaystv, and PokeGirlRach broke a Guinness World Record by opening a total of 1,500 Pokemon TCG packs in 24 hours.
Pokemon Fans Open 20,000 Cards in 24 Hours to Break Guinness World Record
A total of 20,000 cards were unboxed during the event. The opened packs will be donated to UK-based children’s charities, including Bernardo’s. “We had an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to be achieving this ambitious Guinness World Record with such an amazing team of creators,” said Peter Murphy, senior director of marketing at The Pokemon Company International.
Meanwhile, the mobile game Pokemon TCG Pocket has been going from strength to strength since its launch. While it perfectly recreates the joy and spectacle of opening a new physical TCG card pack, it’s safe to say that it’s brought back the dusty days of old from the shelves.
Many people claim that once you get a new pack in Pokemon TCG Pocket, the cards will be the same regardless of your choices, so choosing a pack from the deck doesn’t really make a difference. The fact that The Pokemon Company International has remained silent on the matter doesn’t help matters much either. However, fans have even delved into the game’s code to suggest that your choices don’t matter.
Even so, choosing the right pack from Pokemon TCG’s Scarlet and Violet: Surging Sparks sets will undoubtedly be a big deal, especially with its brand new artwork.
This record attempt shows the passion for TCG card collecting and the determination of the Pokemon fanbase. Opening 1,500 packs in one day is an impressive feat, and the fact that these cards will be donated to charity is a meaningful gesture. Pokemon TCG Pocket controversies aside, it seems like nothing can replace the excitement and surprise of real cards.
