The new Prison Break series will feature a story independent of the original series. Set in the universe of Paul Scheuring, the creator of the classic Fox series, the series is being created by Elgin James. James directs, writes, and executive produces the series, and filming wrapped in West Virginia in June.
The pilot stars Priscilla Delgado, Margo Martindale, Donal Logue, Lili Taylor, and Sylvester Powell. While maintaining the action-packed, suspenseful atmosphere of Prison Break, the series will focus on a new escape story with an entirely new cast of characters. This aims to provide viewers with both a nostalgic and fresh experience.
The original Prison Break premiered in 2005 and garnered a massive fan base over its four seasons. Michael Scofield’s clever plan to save his brother Lincoln from execution is considered one of the most unforgettable stories in television history. A limited-run sequel season in 2015 reintroduced the series’ legacy to modern audiences.
The new installment will stream on Hulu and is produced by 20th Television. Dawn Olmstead, one of the original series’ creators, is returning to the project, working alongside Elgin James. This means it will preserve the essence of Prison Break while giving it a modern twist.
