Project Gravity Revealed for the First Time

SSX was the first game that came to mind when it came to snow sports in the 2000s. The EA-produced series won over players with its gameplay and distinctive aesthetic. After falling silent following a reboot in 2012, the series was originally slated to return under the name Project Gravity. However, the project, backed by 2K, was canceled in 2024.

First Project Gravity Images Released

Former team member Gordon Wang shared new concept art and screenshots of Project Gravity on ArtStation. The images feature tracks and areas that reflect the spirit of SSX. The colorful designs and exaggerated courses, in particular, evoke a nostalgic feeling in fans who miss the series. You can access all the images at this link.

The project’s cancellation was a major disappointment for fans. SSX creators Steve Rechtschaffner and Larry LaPierre were also involved in the game’s development. Therefore, Project Gravity was seen not as a mere side project, but as a genuine candidate to revitalize the series.

For years, no other game has truly captured the style of SSX. While Ubisoft titles like Steep offer similar experiences, they haven’t truly captured the energy and style of SSX. Project Gravity had the potential to fill this void, but its cancellation has sidelined that possibility.

Nevertheless, the emergence of these concept designs suggests that the SuperNatural Studios team is still alive and could potentially embark on a new project in the future. While Project Gravity may not materialize, the possibility of a new project that lives up to the spirit of SSX remains on the table.
