Project Hadar Details Revealed in CDPR Announcement
CD Projekt Red’s long-shrouded project, Project Hadar, is finally starting to reveal its true nature. A new job posting published by the studio offers the first clear clues about the game’s genre and gameplay mechanics. It appears CDPR is continuing its action RPG tradition with this project, this time with a brand new universe focused on melee combat.
Project Hadar Will Be CDPR’s New Combat-Focused RPG
Project Hadar will be CD Projekt Red’s first original franchise beyond The Witcher and Cyberpunk. The posting for a Senior Gameplay Designer on the company’s official job posting page clearly states that this project is a “melee-oriented combat” action RPG. Applicants are expected to have experience in these genres.
While there are no gameplay images or detailed descriptions yet, it appears CDPR is preparing to deliver an action-packed, character-driven RPG experience with this project. The studio’s experience with previous titles has generated high expectations for Project Hadar. The game’s progression with new characters set in a completely different universe is also a significant step in the brand’s diversity.
As of May 2025, CD Projekt Red is reported to have 730 developers working with it. This team is spread across projects such as The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, Project Sirius, and Project Hadar. The company’s continued expansion of its workforce suggests that the Hadar project will be a long-term and large-scale project.
Meanwhile, the studio is also in the news with other projects, such as the 2.3 update for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 4’s 60 FPS target on consoles. However, Project Hadar could usher in a brand new era that will shape CDPR’s future. The atmosphere of this melee-focused action RPG is already a matter of curiosity.
