Project Maverick Is Actually A Gears of War Game
Official information has finally been shared about the mysterious game project Project Maverick, which Microsoft supports. People Can Fly studio, known for games such as Bulletstorm and Outriders, confirmed that it is actually working on Gears of War: E-Day with this project. The project was first announced in 2023, but the details have been kept secret until now.
Project Maverick = Gears of War: E-Day
People Can Fly finally revealed the true identity of Project Maverick on the “About Us” page it published on its investor site. According to this statement, Maverick is a new production from the Gears of War series, one of Microsoft’s important brands: Gears of War: E-Day. The studio is carrying out this project with The Coalition, the main developer of the Gears series.
E-Day will be a prequel game set in the Gears of War universe and set 14 years before the main story of the series. The game will feature the return of the series’ iconic characters Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in their younger forms. The characters will once again be voiced by John DiMiaggio and Carlos Ferro. The story will focus on E-Day (Emergence Day), the day the Locust invasion began.
People Can Fly is currently working on seven different projects. These include the AAA project Gemini, developed with Square Enix, the Echo mod developed for Krafton, and the standalone Bifrost and Victoria (Lost Rift). In addition, two other projects focused on the VR genre are being developed within the team: Project Bison and Green Hell VR.
On the other hand, the studio’s latest VR experience, Bulletstorm VR, was not very encouraging. However, working with a major brand like Gears of War has rekindled interest in the studio’s projects. A release date has not yet been announced for Gears of War: E-Day, but with this announcement, it is thought that the official launch of the game is approaching. An exciting return is on the horizon for fans of the series.
