PS Plus Members Get Free Costumes in Marvel Rivals
Sony is offering various incentives for PS5 users to play Marvel Rivals. The game, which is free to play and available on many modern platforms, will offer special benefits to PS5 players, according to an announcement on the PlayStation Blog.
Marvel Rivals Privileges for PS Plus Members
Most notably, PS Plus members will receive a free costume pack for Peni Parker, inspired by the VEN#M outfit seen in the 2018 Spider-Geddon comics. The pack will include an outfit, name card, spray, and pose. You’ll also get tokens to speed up your Season Pass progress. If you’re not a PS Plus subscriber, don’t worry, you can also purchase the pack in-game.
As previously announced, PlayStation owners will be able to get the exclusive Scarlet Spider outfit for Spider-Man for free. Given Sony’s long-standing relationship with Spider-Man, this isn’t exactly a surprise.
The game will also support the PS5 Pro, using PSSR technology to improve image quality in both 60fps and 120fps modes. While the game runs at 1440p resolution at 60fps on the standard PS5, Sony’s beefed-up console will bump that resolution closer to 4K. Lumen Reflections will also be added to improve lighting effects.
Finally, the game will take advantage of all of the DualSense’s features, like its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, to make each superhero feel unique.
As games become more ubiquitous across platforms, these console-exclusive perks are becoming a key point of differentiation for manufacturers. While they may not mean much on their own, when combined, it’s clear that Marvel Rivals will feel right at home on PS5.
