PS Plus Premium Users Are Not Happy
Sony’s top-tier subscription package, PS Plus Premium, drew a reaction from users with the content it offered in May. No new classic games were added to the service except Battle Engine Aquila, and the removal of some popular PS3 games increased dissatisfaction.
Why is PS Plus Premium Content Being Criticized?
Only 10 classic games were added to the PS Plus Premium library throughout 2025. Despite the annual subscription fee of up to $160, this slow content update rate has caused great disappointment among users. The termination of cloud streaming support for important PS3 games, such as Resistance: Fall of Man, in particular, has led to increased reactions.
Although some advantages such as PSVR2 support are offered, the fact that these games will soon be removed from the platform raises concerns. In addition, although there are features such as cloud gaming support offered by Sony via PS Portal, these are not enough to make up for the lack of existing content.
According to a survey conducted by Push Square, only 4% of Premium subscribers think the service offers good value. 52% clearly state that they are disappointed. This data clearly shows that the vast majority of users are not satisfied with the Premium service.
Interestingly, on the same day as this negative picture, Nintendo added Killer Instinct Gold to Switch Online and announced GameCube games shortly thereafter, once again showing how far behind Sony has fallen in terms of retro content. A comprehensive content strategy is needed for PS Plus Premium to attract attention again.
