PS5 Pro Will Get AMD’s FSR 4 Tech Next Year
The PS5 Pro, which was introduced with Sony’s PSSR technology, is preparing to switch to a brand new image enhancement system developed in collaboration with AMD in the near future. The company’s chief architect, Mark Cerny, announced that this transition will take place in 2026 and that the new technology will directly replace the current solution.
PS5 Pro Will Fully Switch to FSR 4 Technology
Speaking to Tom’s Guide, Cerny said that the Project Amethyst collaboration between PlayStation and AMD is progressing faster than expected. Noting that the algorithm developed as a result of this partnership has already been introduced by AMD on PC platforms under the name FSR 4, Cerny emphasized that the same technology will come to the PS5 Pro without any cuts.
It was stated that the new algorithm will be fully compatible with the PS5 Pro hardware, and it was also reported that this technology will not be a special Sony solution, but will be openly offered to all AMD partners. Cerny stated that such collaborations will advance not only their own products, but the entire gaming industry.
On the other hand, it was also confirmed that PlayStation does not plan to have any first-party games in the short term as part of the PS Plus subscription. This advanced FSR 4 support that the PS5 Pro will receive in 2026 will be a step that is expected to make a big difference, especially in higher resolution and smooth graphic performance.
