PS5 Pro’s New Cooling System Introduced
Sony introduced the innovations made to the console’s cooling system in its official teardown guide for the PS5 Pro. PS5 Pro’s Liquid Metal Cooling Is Now More Stable
According to Sony’s mechanical design leader Shinya Tsuchida, although the basic structure of the PS5 Pro’s cooling system has been preserved, “thin grooves” have been added to the surfaces where the liquid metal is applied. These details ensure that the cooling becomes more stable. Tsuchida states that this system was also important when the original PS5 was designed, but has become even more critical due to the increased semiconductor density in the Pro model.
The changes in question had previously been brought to the agenda by some technical service owners who claimed that liquid metal could leak from PS5s. Although these claims were later declared unfounded, Sony’s new design is considered an important step towards increasing user confidence.
