PS5 Pro’s Performance Falls Short
PS5 Pro is finally on sale. The PS5 Pro, which was announced a few months ago after much debate about whether it existed or not, is finally available for $699. Since we haven’t received the product yet, we haven’t been able to test it ourselves and see the results, but that doesn’t stop us from taking a look at the published reviews. When we take a look at the review reports published by the publications that received the device, unfortunately, we can see that the console is far below the expected performance.
PS5 Pro’s Performance Falls Short of Expectations
Broadcasters who set it up and thought it had a lot of great features don’t seem to have gotten what they wanted from the game performance. PushSquare’s test of Dragon’s Dogma 2 makes similar statements. “With the PS5 Pro, it was hoped that Dragon’s Dogma 2 could finally achieve high frame rates without sacrificing image quality. However, we played the game again on the new console and the results are disappointingly mixed.”
In the same review, it is stated that the game can reach 60 frames in balanced mode, but this is inconsistent. In other words, there can be fluctuations during the game. They also noted that strange side effects occur when the PSSR is on high. “Moving environmental assets like grass and waterfalls can appear surprisingly blurry, as if the technology doesn’t know exactly what it’s supposed to display. These jarring anomalies tend to get worse as you lower the PSSR settings,” they explain, revealing that the product as it stands is a pretty serious failure.
While all of these issues and performance shortcomings of the PS5 Pro could be addressed with a software update over time, it’s a significant drawback for a device you’re going to pay $699 for. The lack of box contents also makes you reconsider your purchase.
Of course, the PS5 Pro is Sony’s most powerful console to date, and it certainly offers better performance and image quality in games. But it clearly fails the price/performance test.
