PS5 User Count Hits Record
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced in its latest update to investors that an important threshold has been passed. The number of active users of PlayStation 5 has surpassed PlayStation 4 for the first time. The number of users of the two consoles has been very close for a long time, but new data shows that PS5 is now clearly ahead.
PS4 Support Continues, PS5 Takes the Top
Although Sony did not share exact figures in the graphics it published, visual presentations revealed that PS5 has left PS4 far behind in terms of user base. PS5 players are more engaged than previous-generation players not only in terms of numbers, but also in terms of content and service spending.
Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino emphasized in his presentation that PS5 offers the best content experience and that players show great interest in this platform. However, Nishino stated that PS4 users are still in an important position and said, “We will continue to serve them,” and announced that support for the old-generation console will continue.
PlayStation 6 was also briefly mentioned in the presentation. Nishino stated that the future platform is among the company’s priorities and is at the center of the brand vision. Although clear information has not yet been shared, the rapidly growing audience of PS5 already shows that the new-generation console will also be on a strong footing.
