Labubu Figures Became Collectors’ Favorite

The Labubu character, designed by Hong Kong-based artist Kasing Lung, has recently gained great popularity around the world. BLACKPINK member Lisa’s interest in this figure has further increased collectors’ attention. Labubu, which stands out with its resemblance to toys from the past such as Beanie Babies, is now in the luxury collectibles category.

At the event held at the Yongle International Auction House in China, 48 rare Labubu figures were offered for sale. This auction house, known for its jewelry and contemporary art, hosted a toy auction for the first time. While most of the figures sold for over a thousand dollars, two models found buyers with extraordinary amounts.

Only 15 pieces were produced, the 160 cm tall brown Labubu, sold for approximately $114 thousand. However, the star of the event was the 130 cm tall light blue Labubu figure. This special product reached its new owner for $150,325. Although the buyer was not announced, auction house officials emphasized that the figure is “the only one of a kind in the world.”

Yongle Auction House announced that it plans to hold monthly live-streamed auctions for trendy toys like Labubu. It seems that the Labubu craze is just beginning and will continue to make a name for itself in the world of collectibles.
