Ready or Not Will Release on Consoles with Censorship

Ready or Not, which draws attention as a realistic SWAT simulation, will meet console players on July 15. However, this transition process has also brought some discussions. According to the statement made by VOID Interactive, some violent and nudity scenes of the game are being changed in order to make it suitable for console certification. These changes will not be limited to consoles; some content arrangements that will be reflected in the PC version in order to maintain cross-platform support are on the agenda.

Content Changes Are Being Made for Ready or Not Console Version

The development team announced that changes will be made in three main areas in particular: amputation, nudity, and scenes involving children. It was stated that these elements were rearranged to comply with the demands of rating institutions such as ESRB. Especially high-dose scenes will affect the PC version due to some technical restrictions.

While adding clothing to character models that contain nudity, limb severing has been limited to only appearing when the target is alive. These effects will no longer be present on dead bodies. VOID Interactive stated that they made this change to maintain the tone of the game and that they were careful not to disrupt the player experience.

More significant changes are being made to some missions that feature child characters. For example, a scene where a child who had a seizure before will now only be shown as a sleeping child. In addition, some evidence images and sensitive content will be completely removed from the console version.

VOID Interactive emphasizes that most of these changes are due to technical requirements. According to the developer, in order to provide cross-play support between different platforms, the content must be compatible. If the change is only a texture update, it can only be applied to consoles. However, if there is a model or animation change, the same content must be valid on both platforms.
