Resident Evil 5 Remake Will Be Decided by Fans
In recent years, remakes of the Resident Evil series have made a splash in the gaming world. Following the successful returns of RE2, RE3, and RE4, attention has naturally turned to a fifth installment in the series. However, according to insiders, Resident Evil 5 Remake is not currently in development. The project’s realization will depend entirely on the interest of the gaming community.
Capcom Looks to the Community for Resident Evil 5 Remake
Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, who shared reliable leaks, revealed that the fifth installment in the series is not currently in the remake plans. In a response on Twitter, he stated that such a project could only be brought about by strong fan demand. In other words, Capcom hasn’t completely closed the door on a Resident Evil 5 Remake, but there’s no concrete development in the works yet.
Instead, Capcom is focusing on other projects. According to Insider, the focus is currently on Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. The Code Veronica remake, in particular, is reportedly progressing quite well, thanks to the inclusion of many developers from the RE4 remake team. This suggests that the Resident Evil series will soon be in the spotlight with these two sequels.
Resident Evil 5, released in 2009, sparked considerable controversy at the time. While the game is still playable on modern platforms, many players are eager to see it return with modern visuals and updated mechanics like its predecessors. The game’s cooperative structure, in particular, could offer a very different experience with today’s technology.
Capcom has left the decision-making for the Resident Evil 5 Remake entirely up to the players. Past remakes in the series have been highly acclaimed in terms of both sales and critical success. If there is strong fan demand, it may be a matter of time before Capcom pursues this project.
