Resident Evil 6 Might be Coming Back
The latest reports revealed that Resident Evil 6 might be coming back with modern platform launch.
Is Resident Evil 6 Coming Back?
Despite it’s bad reviews, Residen Evil 6 was a commercial success for the Capcom. Resident Evil 6 is playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X thanks to the consoles’ backward compatibility, but now it seems that it may be getting a native release on the newer platforms as well.
An ESRB rating spotted by VGC suggests that Resident Evil 6 is coming to Xbox Series X/S consoles. And unless Capcom has suddenly decided to make Resident Evil 6 an Xbox console exclusive when it comes to the latest systems, a PS5 version is most likely in the works as well. Presumably, the native Xbox Series X/PS5 versions of Resident Evil 6 will be mostly identical to other versions of the game, though it’s possible there will be performance enhancements of some kind. Since Resident Evil 6 is already available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X through backward compatibility, some may be questioning why such a port is necessary, so maybe Capcom will do something else to change the experience for players.
A Resident Evil 6 remaster for PS5 and Xbox Series X isn’t likely to attract excitement among fans, but the timing of this ESRB rating is interesting. It comes mere days before the Xbox Developer Direct on January 23, where a new entry in a Japanese IP with decades of history is expected to be showcased. There have been no hints that the mystery game at the Xbox Developer Direct is Resident Evil or even made by Capcom, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, though it’s still a possibility. Perhaps the announcement of a new Resident Evil 6 PS5/Xbox Series X port will be coupled with the reveal of the next game in the series, but again, it’s best to keep one’s expectations in control.
