Resident Evil Movie Director Announced
The Resident Evil movie series is returning with a reboot project that will excite fans. Barbarian director Zach Cregger will write and direct the new Resident Evil film. Expected to be a faithful adaptation of the horror genre, this new production will bring the original horror atmosphere of the series’ video games to the screen. Four major studios are currently in fierce competition to acquire the rights to the film.
Resident Evil Movie Returns to Its Roots
The new Resident Evil film, directed by Zach Cregger, aims to return the series to its roots and reflect the sense of horror in video games. Previous adaptations, especially the 2021 Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, were criticized by fans and critics for not sufficiently reflecting the spirit of the games. The first six films, on the other hand, proceeded through the character of Alice, played by Milla Jovovich, and told a story independent of the games. However, this time, a production faithful to the horror theme and atmosphere of the games is expected.
Warner Bros. and Netflix are the names that stand out for the new Resident Evil movie. Netflix has previously released a Resident Evil series and offered the series’ animated films on its platform. On the other hand, Warner Bros. seems to have an advantage as a studio that has also managed to acquire the rights to director Zach Cregger’s previous film Weapons.
Cregger is a name that has recently made a name for itself in the horror genre. The director, who has received great acclaim especially with the Barbarian film, is expected to bring a fresh breath to the series with the new Resident Evil film. Fans hope that the horror and tension elements in the games will be reflected more strongly on the big screen this time.
