Resident Evil Movie Will Offer a Brand New Genre
Zach Cregger, the writer and director of the upcoming Resident Evil film, has shared new details about the project’s unconventional structure. Cregger explained that it will not be connected to previous films and stated that the story will be fresh, bold, and unconventional. The director, aiming to offer a completely different experience while preserving the atmosphere of the games, has piqued considerable curiosity among fans of the series.
A Brand New Approach to the Resident Evil Film
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Cregger emphasized that the film will have a completely original script and will not incorporate any elements from previous Resident Evil films. The director said, “I wrote this story, and I love it. If I do my job right, the film will feel fresh, bold, and strange.” In July, he stated that he was looking for a film that mirrored the game experience but was not tied to the existing universe’s narrative.
While officially confirmed details about the project are scarce, a leaked synopsis hints at the film. The Walking Dead actor Austin Abrams will reportedly play Bryan, an easygoing organ courier. During a late-night delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital, Bryan encounters a mysterious woman on a snowy mountain road. She survives, but something “very strange” is discovered about her.
This encounter will plunge Bryan into the midst of a full-blown outbreak involving terrifying tentacle mutations and bioengineered creatures. While the plot shares familiar horror elements from the Resident Evil series, its narrative and plot appear to offer a unique perspective.
Cregger’s previous statements and leaks suggest the film will explore the classic zombie theme in a new way, strongly incorporating the game’s atmosphere. Resident Evil fans are eager to see how this new approach will breathe new life into the series.
