Resident Evil Requiem Announced
Capcom made one of the most striking announcements of Summer Game Fest 2025. The new installment of the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Requiem, was surprisingly revealed at the finale of the event. Positioned as the ninth main game of the series, the production had been on the agenda with rumors for a long time, but the official introduction had been postponed until today. With the trailer, both the name of the game and the release date became clear: Resident Evil Requiem will meet players on February 27, 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem Shown with Its First Trailer
In the introduction trailer, players met the new lead Grace for the first time. Grace, who conducts technical analysis for the FBI, is assigned to deal with the mysterious deaths that have been going on. The last case waiting for her is not only work but also directly related to her personal past. The place where the incident took place is the Remnant Hotel, where her mother was murdered years ago. As Grace returns to this place, both dark memories and unknown threats come to the surface one by one.
The trailer promises players a new story while preserving the classic Resident Evil atmosphere. The gloomy corridors, dimly lit rooms and spooky details of the Remnant Hotel add psychological depth to the story. In the production, which has also been taken a step forward in terms of visuals, character animations and environmental interactions stand out. Grace’s confrontation with her past and her fight against the new threat seem to form the main narrative of the game.
The creatures and details shown in the trailer reveal that biological threats specific to the Resident Evil universe are back. The mysterious character seen in the final scenes of the trailer probably points to the main villain. It is felt that Capcom is focusing more on storytelling full of horror elements this time. It is estimated that the game will retain classic elements such as exploration, puzzle solving and survival.
Resident Evil Requiem is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms. Although there is no direct reference to Switch 2 in the official statements from Capcom, the similar porting of Resident Evil Village increases the possibility of a port for Requiem. The game is expected to be on the agenda again with gameplay footage in the coming months.
